Dancing...

I know it isn't the best quality, but I had to get a video of me and Cash dancing it up last night for Valentine's Day...

My sweet Valentine...

Cash and I's Valentine's Day started when I got home from my rotation because he isn't awake when I leave in the mornings.

Here is his Valentine's present from mommy and daddy. He is obsessed with Rumble, the Thunder mascot right now, so we got him a Rumble stuffed animal and basketball. And he is also digging Batman right now, not as much as Mickey Mouse, but he likes him. So he got a Batman bucket with snacks.
I then fixed him a big dinner, of which he ate 2 big plates.
We then went to Braum's to get some ice cream, I mean it's Valentine's Day so we needed something sweet.
And then we ended our day playing in the living room on his slide, which he found is more fun to jump from than slide down.
All in all, it was a great day with one of my great loves.

Love,
E

Well said Mr. Marley...

I sometimes have unrealistic expectations of Noah and set him up for failure after watching "The Notebook" or some other sappy love movie. Bob Marley said this following quote and I think it is profoundly true and exactly what I need to hear. My husband is NOT perfect, most can attest to this. But he is perfect for me. He keeps me honest and light hearted and has given me his whole heart without reservation. And I can't really ask for more than that.

A trip down memory lane...

My cousin, Dillyn, goes to school at Southmoore right now and is on the freshman basketball team. The past Thursday he played Westmoore, my old alma mater. And I took that opportunity to introduce Cash to where his mommy spent hours upon hours of her time in high school.

It was a bit surreal to see Cash playing in the same gym that I played in, in what seems like just yesterday. I had a moment of panic when I realized that he would one day be playing a sport in high school. I hate to be so bold and make a prediction, but if Cash loves basketball when he is in high school as much as he loves it now, he will be playing basketball in high school. No doubt.

I can't wait to see what he will become. Whatever it is, I know it will be special.

Why thank you...

Why yes dear husband, I will accept flowers for no reason.

Cash,
Take note. You DO NOT have to have a reason to buy a girl flowers. "Just because" is as good of a reason as any to surprise her with a thoughtful gesture.

And it will make her day. Just like your daddy made mine.

Our heart...

Cash stole our heart from the very moment we laid eyes on him. We were enamored with his fragile being and calm nature. We we shell-shocked with the new world of parenthood and wondered and talked about nightly how we were going to raise this little baby. And the truth is, it is still a shell-shock. Everyday. Every single day we are approached with a new scenario or a new circumstance that we have to find our way through. When Cash was just a bitty baby, it was like we were locked in a dark room with no windows and we were feeling the walls and gripping the floor to try to find the light switch. Now that he is older, it is like we are locked in a room with a hint of a light coming in from under the door. More than before, but still not enough to feel completely confident that we know what we are doing.

And we have truly come to peace with the fact that that is okay. It is more than okay. It is fun. It is unexpected. And in some strange and pleasantly pleasing way, I feel like being a parent is like being a little kid again. We are given a chance to relive it with a heightened sense of what makes it so incredibly special and precious.

And we are really trying to take advantage of our special time reverting back to our childhood. It is practically impossible to not enjoy it with Cash leading the way.

Bye bye boppy

We no longer have a paci in the house! (Actually, we have all the paci's but just don't tell Cash they are hidden)

Cash was such a champ about the whole thing. We never had a break down about it. We never had a fit at nap or bedtime, so I was one happy mama.

Thank you Cash for being a rock star about the whole thing. You sure make being your mama easy!

Love,
E
