Cash's friends...

Let me just start this by saying that Cash loves his friends. And I mean, really loves his friends. He asks about them on the days that they are not here and will pick up the individual toys that they like and say their name while putting it up. So sweet! I love watching him interact and grow with these two boys. They have their arguments and little "scuffles" but it only makes them better friends and better boys.

They are sometimes referred to as the "3 Musketeers"

A day at the zoo...

Two weekends ago, Cash,Noah, Courtney, Ashley, Stacy, and I made a little trip to the zoo. The last time we went, Cash was too young to really interact or appreciate all the animals. This time he was naming all the animals and doing all the animal sounds. It was just too cute. He was pretty much a perfect angel the entire time with no blow ups or fits. It was my kind of an afternoon.

Daddy helping Cash get used to the goats...

I just thought this picture was kind of funny. It isn't every day you see a goat standing on a chair...

Cash really loved feeding the goats...

Getting ready to watch the elephant show...

My happy little family...

The crew. Except Stacy because the picture we took with her came out way too dark!

All in all it was a fabulous day!

Just a normal night practicing...

This is just a normal night in the Allen household. Practicing his golf swing with daddy and using mommy as a jungle gym.

We are working on getting rid of the ubber cheesy smile, but I'm thinking its grown into a habit.

My little toddler...

Cash has been learning some new things, thanks to my mom, me, and his baby sitter. I know he is my son, and I have the all-too-typical motherly bias, but I think he is a pretty big smarty pants. Just sayin.

A little trip to Houston...

Cash and I took a quick trip to Houston, TX this past week to see Noah's parents and family. Noah was working in Arkansas, so it was just me and the 19 month old. I repeat. Me and a 19 month old. Alone. In a truck. On a 7 hour drive. And it couldn't have gone smoother. He was a champ during the drive to and from Houston. We didn't have to watch any movies or have any signs of crying or fit throwing. Cash turned out to be a true seasoned traveler.

It did make me realize the importance of planning for a long road trip without the aid and hands of another adult. I had to make sure there were three sippy cups filled with water because inevitably he would drop one. Or two. I had to make sure all snacks and books were within my reach so that I could pass them along to Cash when he wanted them. If something was dropped, it stayed there until we stopped. And to my surprise, there was no objection from Cash in that regard.

We left our house at 4:30 am to begin our adventure. Cash stayed awake for the first 45 min of the drive and fell asleep for the next 45 min. He woke up hungry around Denton, so we stopped at the all important Chick-fil-a. Or "chick-la" as Cash calls it. We got out, ate, and played for about 30 min and jumped back on the road.

The next thing we did was find every single cow or horse along the way and talk about them. And repeated it. Over and over and over and over (you get the picture). We also, for some reason, started looking for buffalo or butt-lo as Cash called them. That went on for about an hour until we stopped at Buckee's and found a small stuffed buffalo, which I quickly bought for a measly $4. Then back on the road to dance and sing and read books.
On the way home, mommy may or may not have passed up every Chick-fil-a on accident. So we stopped at the next best place for breakfast... Cracker Barrel. And Cash was labeled a "boy genius" by our waitress because of how good he was at the peg game. I was glowing with pride of course...
Cash and his cousin Owen enjoyed one of the many meals consumed during the week. Chili was maybe his favorite. As you can see, there was not a drop left on either plate...

Only in Houston can you go swimming in March. Wait. I stand corrected. Only in Houston can you go skinny dipping in March. It was cold. Not too cold, but pretty cold. "Butt" Cash didn't care (pardon the pun here). He didn't care how cold it was, he just wanted in the "poooool" and to play with the noodle or "noonle".

Wouldn't he make such a cute ring bearer (take note Casey)?? We went to a wedding while we were there and Cash made it his mission to pull not 1 but 2 cousins in this thing around the whole wedding grounds. Strong kid...

And then there was this. I really like this pic of us. Of course Cash has his annoyingly and elaborate grin in the picture, but it is a very good summary of our trip. No major melt downs with one happy mommy and one happy baby boy who just love to be around each other.

Love,
E
