I am way behind here...

I get these marvelous ideas about things to blog about and then about 2 weeks later I actually get around to writing about them. Amazing how I can get so far behind. Anyway...

My friend Megan had her baby shower for her little girl, Kyler a few weekends ago and it was just adorable. Everyone who chipped in for the shower did such a great job and did a super cute "pickles and ice cream" idea. Creative girls, I tell ya!
Megan is the only friend (so far :) that is having a girl, so I must say I got a bit carried away at the idea of shopping for a little girl. Probably best that we had a boy while I am in school, otherwise we may be filing for bankruptcy right about now...
A few pics from the shower

These are 2 of my best friends from high school, Kassie on the left and Tori on the right (the one who looks like Sandra Bullock). Tori is about 16 weeks preggo here, but I can hardly tell anything. Looks to me like maybe she just ate lunch or something, but certainly not 16 weeks pregnant!

My friend Kim also had a baby shower this past weekend for her baby boy Gavin! Silly me, I left my camera at home. But let me just tell you, the monkey themed baby shower left detail unseen. It was so adorable and the ladies hosting the shower should probably go into the business of party planning because it was so cute! Sorry for no pics Kim, I had no camera and Cash was being that baby at your shower. Don't worry though, we talked about it and he wanted me to tell you he was sorry for his little whine session.

Can't wait to meet all the new babies! So much fun to be had!

Love me some fatness...

I just love the fact that my baby boy is a chubby little thing! I call all of his rolls "sweet meat" and he just loves it when you pinch it.

Nothing better than a fat baby...
Even his feet are a little on the chubby side...

Dear Baby,

One of my most favorite things in this whole world is when you hold my fingers when I feed you. Or when you rub my skin with your soft chubby hand while I feed you.

Please don't ever stop holding my hand.

Love,
Mom

How did this happen...

I just don't understand what we did?

How in the world did we get so incredibly lucky? I mean, from what I understand Noah was a crazy kid (and I think that is putting it mildly) and of course I was an angel. Ask anyone.

But how did 2 immature, unprepared, messy, and clueless kids like this...

Make something so beautiful and perfect like this...

and this...
and this...
My answer is simply this..

I have no idea. But we obvioulsy got a little help

Tailgating fun...

Another weekend has come and gone...and the Sooners are still undefeated! I love it.

Cash tailgated again this weekend and is becoming quite the pro. He watches the game on the TV, sleeps a little, plays a little, and then it is back to watching the game. He is already such a sports nut!

Little man is getting a pregame nap in before we even leave for the game.

Family pic with Cash, again, partaking in a pregame nap...

Cash with his grandpa, who has yet to decide on his "grandpa" name. He won't go with any of my suggestions so I don't know what he is going to be called. If it were up to me he would be either Grandude or Grandbo, but nobody listens to me.

Does this kid ever wake up?

Daddy and Cash watching the game...that football may be a bit big for Cash right now

Our 'lil punkin...

I coerced Noah and Cash to a local pumpkin patch this week so we could get our first "family" of pumpkins. Everyone got a pumpkin...including Duke the dog :)
Here are the pics from our trip.

Birth Announcement...

Not sure if I ever posted the final birth announcement, but here it is:

If I could write a letter to me...

A large number of my friends are either pregnant, trying to get pregnant, or thinking of becoming pregnant. This made me think of advice that I would give myself if I could go back a few weeks before Cash was born. Here is what I was thinking...

Dear me,

In few weeks your life is going to turn upside down and inside out, so get ready. Actually, don't get ready. You will try to prepare yourself as best you can but you truly can not prepare yourself for how drastically things will change. You may have the nursery done and ready for your baby boy. You may have all the bottles washed and all the clothes washed (probably not though if I know you like I think I know you). You may have the car seat in (trust me, adjust it to the bigger setting before you get to the hospital) and ready to go. But I will tell you what you don't have ready... your heart. It will grow exponentially bigger and make room for this precious soul that has just entered your life.

Your time in the hospital will fly by and creep by at the same time. You will be so ready to go home but so scared to leave the comfort of having a nurse at the push of a button. Trust me, you will be fine. You will venture into the unknown world of parenthood and you will feel blindfolded. But trust me, you will be fine. Your body will be pushed to the edge of what is physically possible, and in time, you will bounce back. You are stronger and braver than you ever thought possible.

Lean on people to help you. At first, you will want to do everything on your own. You will feel like a failure and a bad mom if you can't do everything on your own. Get that idea out of your head. You will be a better mom because you realize that everything you are doing is for your baby boy. You are going to need help. Just get used to it.

Noah will turn out to be the best and biggest help that you can ask for. Make sure and thank him often and let him know that you could not do any of this without him. (Maybe buy him a round of golf to show your appreciation). The love you had for him before your baby boy gets here is dismal compared to the amount of love you have for him as the father of your child.

Listen to advice from people, but trust yourself. You are a good mother. Obviously you are still figuring everything out, but you are a good mother. You are beginning the ground work of raising a young man, which can be an intimidating thing. Keep praying over your sweet angel every night for God to give you the tools you need so that you can equip him to be the man you know he can be.

Hang in there,

Your future self

P.S.
The above picture is just a glimpse of what you have to look forward to.

P.S.S
It's pretty sad that you baby, who has been cooped up in a womb for 9 months, is darker than you. I'm just saying.

2 month mark...

Somewhere in the midst of all the chaos and traveling over the last few weeks, Cash man turned 2 months. Here are his stats:

14.1 pounds

24.5 inches long

Laughing at anything and everthing
Doing a spectacular job of holding his head up...with a few minor head butts here and there
Sleeping through the night (I hesitate to put this because... well you know why)
Eating 4-5 ounces ever 3 1/2- 4 hours
Drooling like a dog. I mean it is amazing how he can produce so many bubbles from his spit
Got his shots and took 'em like a champ (mom and dad did quite well if I may say so myself)

Here are some random pictures from his second month of living...

What's been happening lately...

Sorry for the extended hiatus from the blogging world. I have been in the midst of some pretty awful tests and papers for school, so blogging has taken a back seat. Now that I am able to come up for air (before being pushed back under with tests and papers next week) I thought I would update on what has been happening over the last few weeks. Let's see...

1. We took Cash on his first flight! He was awesome, despite my intense fear that he would be that baby that would not stop screaming and disrupting the entire plane. He was a perfect little baby and never once made a peep. Good job little dude.
2. We went to Houston to visit Noah's family over the OUvs. Texas football weekend. Noah's mom hired someone to take family pics with the newest editions to family, which included Cash ,Owen, and Stephanie. My good friend Casey came to watch a bit of the football game with us and our friend Cody came over as well, even though he was the only Texas fan there! Here are some random pics from the weekend...

3. My sister-in-law and I wanted to get pictures of all of the young boys in the Halloween costumes. Her three boys were dinosaurs and Mr. Cash was a dinosaur egg. Here are some pics from the pumpkin patch of all the boys dressed up.

He loves his daddy...

Let me just say that Cash thinks that Noah is the funniest person ever. He laughs at almost everything Noah does and it is one of my favorite things to watch. It makes my heart so happy to see my baby laughing and loving his daddy.

Please excuse the nakedness of my butterball. This was recorded right before bath time! He is most certainly going to hate me for this when he is 13 years old.

P.S. When I told Noah that Cash thinks he is the funniest person alive his response was of no surprise to me... "If you think I am funny now Cash, just wait! I am like a fine wine, I only get better with time". Oh brother...
